Life

With a long and highly awarded career in fashion, haute couture and costume making, Italian designer Maurizio Galante is a couturier whose creations have conquered runaways across the globe. A graduate of Academy of Costume and Fashion in Rome and a trained architect, he has worked in Paris since 1991. In 2008 Maurizio Galante was made ‘Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres à Paris’ by the Ministry of Culture for his contribution to the French fashion industry.

Born on the opposite bank of the Mediterranean sea, Israeli Tal Lancman is a trend forecast analyst highly esteemed for his expertise in textile and design. Since 1995, he has been an editor and creative director for Textile View magazine, the leading industry publication in defining trends, colors, textile, fashion, decoration and consumers behaviors. In 2003 the duo Galante Lancman teamed up to form INTERWARE, a design and consultancy agency that unite their crossover vision in establishing a balance between industrial and craftsmanship traditions, welcoming the best from both fields.

Inspiration

“INTERWARE is about a new generation of design. As a rule, the term ‘couture’ is used in connection with the past. My work is a fusion of past, present and future. The memory of the past is there in the handicraft, the poetry and the familiar elements, while the future is presented practically and realistically by means of technology and innovation. But it is not based on a ‘total look’. They are just the things I love – the things that have a place in my world” says Maurizio Galante.

The multi-sensorial projects evoke images drawn from nature, history and mythology. Sculptural and opulent, Galante & Lancman projects transverse the different design disciplines: from fashion to furniture, from interiors, lights, architecture to food and gardening. As the duo moves freely between disciplines, they revisit domains equipped with new understandings, insights and observations. The duo “transversal design” results from a constant experimentation, research, collaboration with artists, designers and artisans.

Inspiration
